About Us

William J. Trott, Ph.D., P.E.

William J. Trott, Ph.D., P.E.,   Forensic Hydrologic and Civil Engineer.  Founding Partner, Vice President, Principal Engineer, Major Stockholder, and Member, Board of Directors, of Environmental Science & Energy, Inc.

Dr. Trott is a Professional Engineer, Civil Engineering Branch, California, 1981.  License No. C 033646.   

EDUCATION.  William Trott earned a B.S. (Magna Cum Laude) in Engineering, an M.S. in Water Resources Systems (Engineering), and  Ph.D. in Water Resources Systems -- all at UCLA. 

EXPERIENCE.  Dr. Trott has more than 37 years of experience as a Civil Engineer, specializing in hydrology and hydraulics.  He has been employed by UCLA, Environmental Dynamics, ASA, Psomas, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sikand, Hlubik, Tetra Tech, Mono Lake Committee, Calleguas Water District, and Loyola-Marymount University  between 1970 and the present. 

CURRENT AFFILIATIONS. Dr. Trott has been the Principal Hydrologic Expert Witness for American Weather & Hydrology, LLC, Associated Science Experts, LLC, and associated and predecessor companies since 1990.

Since 1974, he has also been a University Professor of Civil Engineering, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in hydrology, hydraulics, computer modeling, water resources planning and design, engineering economy, and water resources economics. 

PRESENT AND FUTURE PLANS.  As a Founding Partner, Vice President, and Principal Engineer of  Environmental Science & Energy, Inc., Dr. Trott is working with Dr. Charles B. Pyke, Timothy E. Wright, Philip K. Barone, Zane A. Stephens, Lawrence D. Bregman, Paul Braden, and others in hydrologic research and development projects, as well as in the administration of the corporation, as it becomes involved in the:

Development of new-technology tidal and ocean wave energy for communities in coastal regions worldwide.

Development of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and other renewable energy for individual homes, farms, schools, and businesses worldwide.

Development of the latest-technology scientific instrumentation.

Determination of construction defects, foundation failures, and seismic and landslide hazards

Provision of climatic, meteorological, hydrologic, seismic, landslide, coastal, and ocean data, plus precise, pinpoint data interpolation to specific locations , as well as detailed expert data analysis and high-resolution mapping of data.

Protection and restoration of beaches, ports, harbors, marinas, seawalls, piers, and docks, plus lagoons, marshes, wetlands, and coral reefs.

Structural integrity inspections and seismic safety inspections for bridges, tunnels, railroads, dams, public schools, universities, stadiums, theaters, public buildings, prisons, power plants, cell phone towers, oil rigs, pipelines, and numerous other structures and infrastructuresIncluded are railroad bridge inspections required by Federal Railroad Administration Regulation #49 CFR, Bridge Safety Standards.
